A small hole is cut in the abdomen and a scope is inserted to place a gastric Lap Band into place along the upper portion of the stomach. The Lap Band is then tightened to make a small pouch. The DS operation requires a larger incision and a more invasive procedure to the stomach and the intestines. This means that there is a longer hospital stay and a longer recovery time.
You must also consider the fact that the gastric Lap Band is reversible, whereas the DS surgery would require a major operation in order to be reversed. That means an even longer time spent under the surgeon’s knife and a longer stay in the hospital. Many people have had severe reactions to the surgery and find themselves constantly at the doctor’s office to remove blockages.
If you do want the Duodenal Switch surgery, then it is imperative that you listen to your doctor carefully. Yes, you will lose weight but the disadvantages and the risks may outweigh the benefits. Rule #2: Eat whatever you want for meals.
This rule is simple… eat whatever you want, just as long as you eat 2 bananas before breakfast, 2 bananas before lunch, and 1 banana before dinner. Obviously eating healthier than normal would help your weight loss efforts even more, but it’s not 100% necessary.
Bonus Rule: You can replace 1 banana with an apple before breakfast and lunch.

New Diet Craze: The Banana Diet
A weight loss craze that started in japan has now crossed the ocean.
It’s the morning banana diet.
Here’s the plan: Eat fresh bananas for breakfast or brunch with water at room temperature, eat whatever you want for lunch and dinner, no desserts or snacks, don’t eat after 8 pm. and be in bed before midnight.
The creators of this diet say you don’t have to exercise to see the pounds come off.
But does it work?
Nutritionist and author of the new book “The Beauty Diet”, Lisa Drayer, says it may work at first because bananas are high in fiber and vitamins and low in calories.
But she says you should stick to a set amount of calories and engage in exercise.
Americans are losing their fight against deadly Type 2 diabetes
The type 2 diabetes epidemic that continues to sweep across the United States has left an estimated 24 million Americans struggling with the disease, up more than 3 million people since 2005.
And, of course, with the epidemic comes the wave of illnesses and disabilities brought on by diabetes — heart disease and stroke, blindness, amputations, kidney disease and nervous system damage.
Doctors are trying to reverse the tide in two ways. Despite failures, search for obesity drugs still looks golden
Designers of anti-obesity drugs have suffered three major setbacks, but the potential reward from treating the world’s fat epidemic is so great that their quest is unlikely to be deterred.
After investing a sum rumoured to be in the hundreds of millions of euros (dollars), Sanofi-Aventis of France announced this month it was abandoning its drug rimonabant, which had stoked huge expectations at its launch in 2006.
Rimonabant — brand name Acomplia — ran into a flurry of ever-tougher warnings from European watchdogs about potential psychiatric side effects, including depression.
In October, the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) recommended that rimonabant be pulled from sale in Europe. The drug had never been able to gain approval in the all-important US market.
Also this month, the US giant Pfizer put a stop to tests of a prototype in late-stage development called CP-945,598, citing regulatory hurdles.
